Qué (quién) es Data Terminal Ready - definición

Data Terminal Ready
CONTROL SIGNAL IN RS-232 SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS
Data terminal ready
<communications> (DTR) The wire in a full RS-232 connection that tells the Data Communication Equipment (DCE, typically a modem) that the Data Terminal Equipment (DTE, typically a computer or terminal) is ready to transmit and receive data. (2000-04-05)

CONTROL SIGNAL IN RS-232 SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS
Data terminal ready
Data Terminal Ready (DTR) is a control signal in RS-232 serial communications, transmitted from data terminal equipment (DTE), such as a computer, to data communications equipment (DCE), for example a modem, to indicate that the terminal is ready for communications and the modem may initiate a communications channel.
Data Terminal Equipment
  • DCE and DTE network.
COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM EQUIPMENT
Data Terminal Equipment; Data terminating equipment; Datenendeinrichtung; DTE (telecommunication); DEE (telecommunication)
<communications, hardware> (DTE) A device which acts as the source and/or destination of data and which controls the communication channel. DTE includes terminals, computers, protocol converters, and multiplexors. DTE is usually connected via an EIA-232 serial line to Data Communication Equipment (DCE), typically a modem. It is necessary to distinguish these two types of device because their connectors must be wired differently if a "straight-through" cable (pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2 etc.) is to be used. DTE should have a male connector and should transmit on pin three and receive on pin two. It is a curious fact that many modems are actually "DTE" according to the original standard. (1995-02-28)
